Jean-Philippe Bonardi appointed as Co-Managing Director of the Enterprise for Society Center

20.08.2021

Since August 1st, 2021, Jean-Philippe Bonardi has been named as E4S Center’s Co-Managing Director. He will co-lead the initiative alongside Jean-Pierre Danthine.

Full professor of Strategic Management and former Dean Elect at HEC Lausanne, University of Lausanne, Jean-Philippe was until now a member of the Executive Committee of the Enterprise for Society Center (E4S), created jointly by the University of Lausanne, EPFL and IMD. He has been replaced in this position by Marianne Schmid Mast.

Prior to his occupation at HEC Lausanne, Jean-Philippe spent 7 years at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

Holding a Ph.D. from HEC School of Management in Paris, his research concentrates on the interface between Political Economy and Business Strategy. In particular, he looks at firms’ nonmarket activities, i.e., how firms manage their relationships with governments, international organizations, the media, interest groups, NGOs or activists. He is therefore interested in the business-public policy interface both in a local and a global context.

Jean-Philippe Bonardi said:

“It is a great pleasure for me to join my colleague Jean-Pierre Danthine as the head of the E4S Center. With the current technological opportunities and the sustainability and social challenges, the world is at a tipping point and now is the time to work hard at imagining what the economy of tomorrow should be and what we can do to make it happen. This is the mandate of E4S, and I am thrilled to have a chance to contribute.”

Jean-Pierre Danthine said:

“I am absolutely delighted that Jean-Philippe, who was heavily solicited after his very successful deanship at HEC, has decided to invest his well known energy and creativity in support of E4S. Our ambition is one of impact, our economy must change in the face of the critical current challenges, and with this move we are massively improving the odds of our success.”
