The Enterprise for Society Center welcomes the first cohort of its Master Program in Sustainable Management & Technology

10.09.2021

32 students will join the newly created two-year programme focused on sustainability, technology and management by leading Swiss academic institutions EPFL, HEC-UNIL and IMD.

Less than two years after the official launch of the Enterprise for Society Center by EPFL, HEC-UNIL and IMD, the first cohort of its Master Programme in Sustainable Management & Technology will officially start their two-year course on September 13th, 2021.

After a rigorous selection process, 32 students will embark on a totally new educational journey. The programme has attracted many international talents, as accepted candidates come from 16 different countries, including Canada, Sweden, Spain, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Portugal or Germany. This first batch is composed of one-third of engineering students and two-thirds of economic and management students.

The diversity of profiles and the combination of engineering and economic backgrounds is a strong characteristic of the programme, as it aims at exploring ways to tackle some of society’s greatest challenges through a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach. Indeed, the two-year course’s goal is to equip future leaders with the knowledge and skills enabling them to contribute to the transition toward a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive economy while harnessing the power of technology. The course aims at building competences along three main dimensions: technology & innovation, economics & management, as well as tools and skills for developing sustainable solutions.

“Our societies are facing major challenges. We strongly believe that this innovative programme will prepare the economic leaders of the future to meet these challenges with creativity and a sense of common purpose and to lead the radical economic transition that is needed” said Jean-Pierre Danthine and Jean-Philippe Bonardi, Co-Managing Directors of the Enterprise for Society Center.

All courses around management, technology and/or sustainability will be taught in English by professors on the campuses of EPFL, HEC-UNIL and IMD thus bringing together the expertise of three complementary academic institutions of international excellence. Graduates will receive a Master of Science degree delivered jointly by the three academic institutions.

The Master Programme, which is sponsored by Richemont, is looking to accelerate the emergence of a new generation of leaders capable of conducting business for the benefit of their organisation, the environment and society as a whole.

The SMT Master Programme will be introduced during an inaugural event at IMD on September 24th, 2021, which will gather distinguished speakers for panel discussions and a special keynote speech.
